Hello fellow Africans .. How do you survive in Russia in terms of study, work and fun.. Share your experience based on the 3points. Thanks.
1. Study
Education in Russia is quite cheap if compared to other TOP European countries but you cannot compare the standard. Russian schools are not in the Top 100 Universities in the world.
Basically, the system is like this
a) You have to study a lot (theory mostly) and write exams. The maximum mark you can get is 5+ and the lowest is 2. You are allowed to take an exam (which you normally write and then have a 1-on-1 grilling with the teacher) thrice and you can be expelled if you fail 3 times.
b) You prepare your homeworks and what we call "zachets" (tests)
c) Try not to miss classes at all.
d) Read, Read and Read as advised by the one and only Lenin

2. Work
Well, except things have changed but students are not allowed to work in Russia. It is against the law. Your main focus is to study (at least that is what they say) and even though you can get some odd jobs (like distributing flyers on the streets, hanging coats in bars, waiters...if you are lucky) don't expect a great pay. Your first concern will be to master the language though.

3. FUN!
Dont know your idea of fun but if anything, you will get a lot of fun in Russia. Most people party throughout the week and there are nice places you might like to visit. Just be careful about the company you keep and your studies.
