Tour de Congo cycling event begins in Matadi

he first cycling tour of the Democratic Republic of Congo has begun in the west of the country in Matadi, a port city on the Congo River.

Cyclists from France and across Africa are taking part in the nearly 900km (600-mile) Tour de Congo.

Competitors will ride nine stages over 12 days but will not travel to the volatile east of DR Congo, which is the size of Western Europe.

It was expected to start on Tuesday, but was delayed for 24 hours.

Центр Москвы станет платным уже завтра

Уже с 1 июня парковка в центре Москвы станет платной в пределах всего Бульварного кольца. Стоимость стоянки не будет отличаться от первой пилотной зоны и составит 50 рублей. Бесплатной останется только парковка во дворах, а жители центра смогут по льготным ценам приобрести специальные абонементы на круглосуточную стоянку, для получения которых потребуется согласие всех собственников жилья.

«Мисс Москва» стала студентка МГУ

Как сообщает РИА «Новости», 21-летняя Дарья Ульянова стала победительницей конкурса, завершившегося в ночь на воскресенье.

«Победительница по профессии экономист, в настоящее время учится на первом курсе магистратуры МГУ имени М. В. Ломоносова по профилю „финансовая экономика“. Ульянова — призер всероссийской олимпиады по экономике и предпринимательской деятельности», — сообщила одна из организаторов конкурса.

Всего в нем приняли участие 33 претендентки. В числе требований к участницам — возраст от 14 до 25 лет, рост не ниже 170 см и фигура 90-60-90. Правда, организаторы конкурса уверяют, что особое внимание они уделяют не внешнему виду, а талантам и личным качествам его участниц.

A law banning smoking in some public places and restricting tobacco advertising has come into law from the 1st of June 2013. Smoking will be banned at workplaces, housing block stairwells, buses and commuter trains and within 15m of train stations and airports.

In 2014, the ban will be extended to restaurants, bars, ships and trains.

Russia has one of the highest smoking rates in the world with around 40% of its population smokers.

Its no secret that millions of Russians smoke and personally its even disgusting seeing them smoke close to children and even new born babies.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said almost 400,000 Russians died from smoking-related diseases last year.

Its interesting to see how Russians will comply with the  new law. Only time will tell.
