Juna-Life Aqua Park Moscow

June 8, 2012 // 0 Comments

“Juna-Life” is a Country Club and just a stone throw (about 8Km) from Moscow. It consists of an indoor Aqua (Water) Park, Spa-Hotel, Restaurant and complete with a fitness center and Sports Complex (Football pitch, tennis) . Its located in a very relaxed atmosphere where you and your family can enjoy some fresh air and getting there is too difficult. You can reach Juna-Life Aqua Park either by road or rail and yes, the airport (Sheremetyevo 2 is just nearby) so don’t be surprised at the constant sound of planes flying over your heads.)) Juna-Life country club in itself is nicely designed but well, as most of the things and places in Moscow (or maybe Russia),  ITS WAY TOO PRICEY!!! A day ticket into the Aqua (Water) Park will cost you 2000 Rubles (more than 50€) on weekends. That’s ridiculously high and given that it (the Aqua park) is a very small area and they have just 8 slides (4 are for kids), I simply cannot understand why they charge so much. True, I think you can use the Sauna and toilet and the ‘fresh air’ and very clean environment and changing rooms but blimey, for 50€? Compare that to [...]

Russia is No Europe

January 31, 2012 // 15 Comments

Believe you me but I’m not one of those to complain about anything even if I’m living in Russia(people complain here a lot) but most importantly, I’m grateful to God for everything he has done for me. It was/is for me a privilege to go on vacations and having enjoyed the winter break with my family in Finland, I cannot help but notice the contrast between the two countries.Finland and Russia that is. Oh well, it’s not like my own country is any better, but if Russia claims to be a giant in Europe, then it should be in action and not just size. Size is NOTHING! Finland came across as a ‘strange’ country to me. Strange in a very powerful and positive way and each time I think ofFinland, I say to myself, how did they do it? And it wasn’t just the readily and available social infrastructures or the weather, but rather the atmosphere, environment and above all THE PEOPLE! During my holidays there, I noticed that Finnish people are very nice, welcoming and have more than ONE CHILD. I saw parents with three to four kids!!! I live in Moscow and I’d be lucky to see a [...]

Permanent Resident Permit for Africans in Russia

December 6, 2011 // 1 Comment

As mentioned in my previous post here (how to secure a Temporary Resident Permit in Russia), the next stage in becoming a FULL resident in Russia is to secure a Permanent Resident Permit (PRP). The Permanent Resident Permit (PRP) in itself is not that “permanent” because you will have to (according to the new law) “renew” your “propiska” (i.e your registration and place of address) every five years. Not only that, you will also have to visit the local Migration Office every year to inform them that you are still in the country. You will be given a form to fill and part of the form/leaflet (signed and stamped) returned to you. PLEASE! DO NOT FORGET TO COLLECT THIS FROM THEM! IT IS VERY IMPORTANT The Permanent Resident Permit (called “Vid na Jitelstvo) is valid for five years (but not longer than the validity of your international passport) and can be extended till well, eternity. So what documents do you need to secure a new PRP: 1. A completed Application form (in 2 copies) 2. 4 passport photographs (34*45mm) Sample "Russian Permanent Resident Permit" 3. A valid Temporary Resident Permit 4. A Statement of Bank Account or any other documents [...]

Temporary Resident Permit for Africans in Russia

November 25, 2011 // 30 Comments

Back in the days, most of the Africans who came to Russia or the former USSR were students on scholarship grants either from the governments of their respective countries or from the Russian government. Nowadays the situation is somewhat different and no one knows the number of Africans in Russia. Well, if you are an African and you live in Russia (legally), you might want to know what you have to do to make life better for yourself in terms of visa and stay permits. Without any/either of these, you cannot seek employment legally. Some Africans, I believe are on Student and Work Visas so this may not apply to them. But if you are married to a Russian Citizen, then this is certainly for you. The first step is to secure a TEMPORARY RESIDENT PERMIT (TRP). What do you need? 1. A correctly filled application form 2.
