AFRICAN COUNTRIES’ INDEPENDENCE DAYS

May 19, 2016 // 0 Comments

African Countries and their Independence Days. Brief History of colonization: In the 17th century AD, European countries scrambled for and partitioned Africa. This continued until around 1905, by which time all the lands and resources of the continent of Africa had been completely divided and colonized by European countries. The only country that couldn’t be colonized due to strong resistance by the indegines was Ethiopia, and Liberia which was a place for freed slaves from the Americas. Independence: The struggle for independence started after world war II. This led to the independence of the Union of South Africa in 1931 through negatiations with the British empire and Libya in 1951 from Italy; followed by others in the late 1950s. The road to African independence was very hard and tortuous often through bloody fights, revolts and assasinations. For example; Britain unilatearlly granted “The Kingdom of Egypt” independence on Feb. 22nd 1922 after a series of revolts, but continued to interfere in government. More violent revolts led to the signing of the Anglo-Egyptian treaty in 1936 and a coupe detat tagged Egyptian Revolution in 1952 finally culminated in the Egyptian Republic declaration of June 18th; 1953. The peak year for independence came [...]

The Way Forward for Africans in Russia Community

June 1, 2015 // 11 Comments

Hi and thanks to you all if you are reading this post. Its no secret that keeping an online forum active sometimes (or maybe most times) requires a LOT of effort and I have been trying to do this for many years now. It becomes even more difficult to achieve in Russia because there are virtually no fully functional African Communities – Both online and Offline. Yes, we have small communities trying to do something but I believe this will not be enough and the very reason why I created this website. Most African in Russia are very passive. This is NOT their fault at all. That is just the way things are… This website www.africansinrussia.com was founded and is wholly funded by myself. Not only that, I basically do all the coding (if you may call it that. lol). I also try to find time write some articles, meet people, answer offline questions (via email) to quite a lot of people seeking to know more about Russia or just in need of help. I try to look for new people to register and make new posts on the forum page…I am happy to do this but I need YOUR [...]
